It’s here, in Costa Blanca South – first THREE Coronavirus victims diagnosed

ORIHUELA’S Vega Baja Emergency Hospital has registered the first of THREE Coronavirus cases in the Costa Blanca South, this week.

The man was sent home after being diagnosed and subsequent tests confirm he is still infected.

Authorities have been careful not to reveal the man’s locality, but he is understood to be from Orihuela.

He had recently returned from Italy, so his travelling companions are being tested as a matter of urgency.

Another man was diagnosed at his home in Torremanzanas, 20 miles inland from Villajoyosa, where he also remains quarantined.

And a young man is being treated in isolation in the General Hospital of Alicante.

Only this week, it was revealed that Spain’s first death from the virus was on February 13, in Valencia, where a 69-year-old man succumbed to complications after being diagnosed.

Alicante’s mayor, Luis Barcal, has also met with tourism chiefs today and stated that the city itself is, “completely safe.”
