Puig proposes to institutions and entities that want to join the regional resource in favor of the Transfer

The Generalitat Valenciana has already authorized the presentation of the appeal in defense of the Tagus-Segura, as agreed at a recent meeting of the Valencian government held in Orihuela. The drafting of the resource through a lawsuit is already finalized and will be registered imminently -during the next few days- with the aim of guaranteeing the water needed by Alicante irrigators and the continuity of the transfer. “The position of the Generalitat has always been on the side of the irrigators and it will continue to be so in any circumstance for the future. As an example, the Consell has included a representation of the irrigators in the bilateral commission with the Government of Spain to launch an investment plan with the only guideline of obtaining water forever”, said the regional Secretary of Agriculture, Roger llanes

In this sense and in defense of the irrigators of Alicante, the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, proposes that local institutions and entities that want to join the appeal in favor of the transfer in which the Generalitat Attorney is working, which is the administration that has full legitimacy from the point of view of jurisdiction for the judicial process. “The initiative of the Consell is the one that represents the entire Valencian people and, therefore, it is open to all the institutions and entities that consider it so to join this action of the government”, underlines the regional secretary of Agriculture, Roger Llanes . This sum could be made once the claim of each institution or entity has been filed through a request for accumulation of resources and their arguments.

From the Generalitat Valenciana, Llanes himself reaffirms the absolute commitment of the Consell with the irrigators and with the guarantee of water for the future of Alicante. But, in any case, he regrets the campaign of “insults, hoaxes, snares and lies” orchestrated by the PP on the Tagus-Segura. “They only know how to generate fake news and insults against President Ximo Puig,” emphasizes Llanes. A “miserable” campaign of the PP with “illegal” mailboxes outside the electoral period and that violate municipal ordinances such as that of the city of Alicante. A campaign that does not have the objective of defending the irrigators but to generate a “partisan battle with only electoral overtones over water.” “They are not looking for the benefit of the people of Alicante. Only generate mud so that there is not a drop of water”, explains Llanes before concluding. “The Council is solving everyone’s problems, Mr. Mazón and the PP are dedicated to creating them day after day.”

Dismantled gang dedicated to drug trafficking that took over a small palace in Orihuela

National Police agents have arrested eight people, of Spanish nationality, between 22 and 59 years of age, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of money laundering and illicit association.

The investigations began at the end of 2021 after the arrest of five people for drug trafficking and the seizure of 21 kilograms of cocaine. As a result of this operation, the specialized money laundering units of the National Police in Alicante began investigations to try to determine the destination of the illicit funds generated by said criminal organization, when it was detected that some of its members they were part of commercial companies and carried out legal commercial activities that could be used to channel funds of illicit origin.

As a result of these investigations, it was possible to verify how the main managers of the organization together with family members and people from their environment invested in real estate and in commercial activities of a diverse nature.

In this way, it was possible to verify the acquisition and restoration of a mansion in the center of Orihuela, as well as a rural house in Cuatretondeta, intended for catering establishments, as well as other commercial premises in the city of Alicante. These acquisitions, financed with funds presumably from drug trafficking, would allow them to obtain legal profits with which to launder the illicit funds.

In addition, investments were accredited in activities such as a beauty center, a vehicle repair shop, a fast food outlet or even a gaming venue, all of them with the same alleged illicit financing.

The operational action carried out by the investigating agents concluded with the arrest of eight people in the towns of Alicante, Muchamiel and Agost, among them, the main managers of the dismantled organization, as well as the search of four properties and a commercial premises.

In the same way, 16 real estate properties were blocked in the towns of Alicante, Santa Pola, Orihuela, Busot, Muchamiel and Cuatretondeta, in addition to nine vehicles and abundant computer equipment.

It is estimated that this criminal organization in the 2019-2022 period could have introduced into the legal circuit about four million euros as a result of allegedly illegal activities, mostly from drug trafficking, using their closest relatives as well as people from your circle of trust.

The investigations have been carried out by the Money Laundering Group (UDEF), of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante, collaborating in the exploitation of the operation, both officials of the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police, as well as the Unit of Canine Guides of the same Police station.

The detainees, five men and three women, were made available to the Investigating Court on duty in the towns of Alicante and San Vicente del Raspeig.
